My heart broke yesterday....

Yesterday a girl that used to work with me at the Endo Center came in to visit us. She quit a couple years ago, because she and her husband adopted a baby and starting fostering kids.
She brought her cute little girl in and another baby they are adopting. She also brought in a little boy that is staying with them. She has two other foster kids also, but they were at school.
We asked the little boy how old he is and he said,"Five." Ashley said,"My little girl is about to be five, too! We're having her birthday party this weekend." He said,"Oh, you have visitation with her this weekend?"
Me and Ashley both, were just heartbroken. My eyes watered up, Ashley's eyes watered up. Ashley told him,"No, she stays with me."
How heartbreaking that that poor little boy thinks that his life is normal. That kids go and stay with other adults and just get visitation with their parents? He broke my heart. I just wanted to grab him and hug him and bring him home with me and love him and take care of him.
Emily is one special girl. It takes a special person to take these kids in and be there for them when their parents aren't.
I wish I could do it. But I'm such an emotional mess, I would cry constantly.
Heartbreaking.

Fill it in....

Fill in the blank Friday...a little late..
Link up herrrr to play along. :)

1. Winter is cold, depressing, dark too early .

2. Summer is warm and fun. Laying out, waterparks, cold beer, get togethers, cookin' out. Looooove it.

3. If it were summer instead of winter right now I'd go to my sister's house with my boys. The kiddos would swim, me and my sister would be laying out, drinking some wine or a cold beer. How freaking good does that sound right now??

4. My favorite thing to do in winter is crack the window in my room, curl up in bed, blowdryer blowing on my feet, while reading a good book! Or laying on the couch, catching up on my Snapped and 48 Hours: Hard Evidence.

5. My favorite thing to do in summer is go to the waterpark or lay out by my sister's pool with the kids :)

6. The ideal outfit for a sunny summer day is cut off shorts, tee, flip flops, and a baseball cap.

7. The ideal outfit for a frigid winter day is jeans, tee, hoodie, Converse.

Curly hair?

Last night Leah and I took our kids to Casa Manana. It's become our ritual to all go eat at Casa Manana when Dustin leaves to go back to work. A celebration of sorts.....just kidding ;) But we really do go eat there everytime he leaves.
Anyways, Lucia found a hair in her hamburger! Ewwww. So, I asked Leah if she remembered (years ago...Gage was just a toddler) when we went there to eat with my dad, step mother, and little brother. We got our food and Leah looks at her plate and freaks out. She has hair all on the side of her plate. And I'm not talking hair...I'm talking....h.a.i.r. A hint, Leah said,"I really hope a black man is cooking back there." haha. Anyways, Leah didn't remember, but she died laughing when I told her about it. I said,"Yeah, and it wasn't just a hair....it was a lot."
Lucia said,"Like someone was wearing extensions?" haha. I was like...noooo.
Leah got her fork and pointed down and said,"Like that kind of hair." I was like,"Leah! Don't tell her that!" haha. Lucia said,"Ewwww, that's so gross!" Then she leans over and whispers something to Leah. Leah starts cracking up and told Lucia to tell me what she said. So, Lucia comes over to me and whispers,"Was a man's chest hair all over the plate?" hahahaha. I love that kid. Leah said,"Oh, Lucia. I love you and how innocent you are!"
It was freaking hilarious.

Sooo, anyways.....Gage's girlfriend is going to church with us tonight. I had to pick them up from school today. She's acting all shy. She's a pretty one. I'm going to try to get a picture of her dog tag necklace Gage bought her for Christmas. hahahaha.
Kids. They crack me up.

Once again....

I am once again reading " The Purpose Driven Life". I read it once before, probably 2 years ago. I really loved it and when I finished reading it, I thought...I need to pick this book up and read it again in a couple months. It's the kind of thing you want to keep fresh in your mind.
So, I decided I would start reading it again at the first of the new year!
Last night I read Chapter 2.
If you don't know how the book goes, it's forty chapters long and you only read one chapter a day. I bought the journal that goes along with it...which I didn't have last time I read it.
So, chapter 2 tells you about how you are here for a reason, you are not a mistake. Even if your parents didn't plan you, God did. Even if your parents aren't married or aren't everything you think they should be, God made them your parents for a reason. God made you exactly the way you are for a reason. He doesn't make mistakes.
In the journal you're supposed to write about things you need to accept. Such as, things of your past, or background...where you came from. Race, financial status, family life, etc. Then also about your personality. What's something you don't like about your personality? And of course, your physical attributes. Everyone doesn't like something about themselves. I had plenty of things to write about when it came to my background, past...and my attitude. haha. Believe it or not, I know my faults, I accept them, and sometimes I even try really hard to make an effort to change them!
When it came to my physical attributes I had a few things. What girl wouldn't? If I had had my journal 2 years ago, I could have filled up pages and pages of things I disliked about myself.
But I realized last night that for the first time in my life, I'm actually comfortable in my own skin. Sure I could lose a few pounds...do I obsess over it or starve myself? Nope.
When I was 29 and my birthday was just around the corner, I started freaking out. 30 years old??? OH MY GOSH! Then, THIRTY ONE!! Nooooooooooooo!! Now I'm 32...it wasn't as hard...but it wasn't easy.
Next month I am going to be 33 years old and I am ok with that.
It took 33 years for me to be comfortable in my skin. To be happy with myself and where I am, who I've become. And even how old I am! haha.
Life is good.
God is good.

Did I get off track somewhere?
I think I did.
I feel like I was trying to go in a different direction than where I ended....
I do that sometimes. Oh well.
God made me that way. ;)

TWOOOO THOUSAND ELEVEN!!!

Did everyone have a fabulous New Year's Eve?
I had a lot of fun with my boys, sister, niece, nephew, friends, kids of friends... :)

Adrien got a hotel room for the weekend. It was a lot of fun.

The kids went swimming and running around the hotel...getting in trouble for being too loud and for playing up and down the halls in Gage's wheelchair! haha. Dorks.

As many times as we went up and down.....Zac refused to ride in the elevator, so I had to take the stairs with him EVERYTIME.

He saw the previews to Devil...which I saw and LOVED! Anyways, he just saw the previews...people get stuck in an elevator, one person is the devil....Nope. I'm not riding in an elevator!!! Ugh. I got my work out for the year! ;)

We stayed up late, talking, watching movies. We watched '80s horror flicks...of course, AFTER Zac was asleep!! Drank some wine, the kids had Sparkling White Grape juice. haha.

We missed the countdown, because we were all playing, acting silly. I looked at the clock and said,"Uhhh, it's 12 o'clock." Everyone started screaming "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" Then me and Leah were ready for bed. :) I actually made it to about 1:00. That's big time, baby...for me!!
The next morning, the kids were playing with the balloons we were blowing up the night before...and this is what Jack did.

He said that was his pee pee hanging out of his underwear.
You gotta love him!!
We had a good time! I'm looking forward to the new year. I haven't really made any New Years Resolutions this year. I'll be thinking about it though!

Happy 2011!
